Dippindots and Fireflies

Have you ever heard of Dippindots? It is a type of ice cream that is flash frozen resulting in it becoming little tiny round dots of ice cream. It has to be stored at -40 degrees so is not available in stores where I live. It is available at all the local fairs that occur all summer long though.

The reason I mention dippindots is because since starting this blog I realized that my memory when it comes to the details of our sexual adventures is very much like a big cup of dippindots. Each moment frozen in time and experienced to the fullest. Yet, I am unable to put the memories into any kind of cohesive timeline. Makes it somewhat frustrating to write about sometimes.

We had a lovely day Sunday, starting with breakfast and the newspaper. Old fashioned of me I know, but I love to read the Sunday paper. I was a bit dismayed when Musicman pointed out an article in the paper about the reservoir where we go to play among the fireflies. No fair, I say, that is our spot, how can they just go and tell the whole world about it.

He said he knew of another reservoir we could check out, maybe we could find a decent place to play among the fireflies there. So off we went on an adventure. I had googled the directions, but did not write them down. Musicman said he didn't need them. Ok, first mistake, I believed him. It is my job to navigate when we go daytripping or any other kind of traveling, so I should have just written down the directions.

We were on the right track and in the middle of farm country, it should have been easy to spot our turn amongst the pastures full of cows and and the vineyards. Mistake number two, the roads are not well marked, guess the cows don't check for street names too often. We were so busy talking and listening to the stereo, I completely missed the turn. By the time we realized we had definitely missed the turn it was actually closer to home to keep going instead of turning around. So, that's what we did. Our adventure to find the fireflies was a lovely Sunday afternoon drive, but no fireflies where found.

Later in the evening Musicman took our old dog out and checked on the pool. He saw some fireflies, but before he could come get me it started to rain. The fireflies don't care for the rain, so he caught one and brought it in to me. It had fallen into the pool and he rescued it. Once they get their wings wet they can't get out of the pool, but they continue to lightup for awhile while they drift around.  He handed it to me and it just sat in my hand lighting up until it's wings dried out, then it started flitting around our bedroom.

Musicman turned the light off and I was very happy to lay there and watch it light up, until Musicman rolled me over to my tummy and picked up the flogger. The flogger was quite effective at distracting me from the firefly. For the second night in a row I fell asleep with a lovely sting on my backside. I have no idea what happened to the firefly.

  2. Sounds like a nice drive faerie. It's nice that even without getting to your destination you had a good time and enjoyed each others company.

On another note, I love going to be with a stinging bottom.

    1. Oh we always have a good time on our little day trips, we go all over the place in the summer.

Doesn't it just make for the best night's sleep? LOL.

    1. I hate to drive, Musicman always does the driving and I always navigate. When I have directions to refer to I am pretty good at it. Thanks for the lovely compliment :)

  4. As long as you're enjoying yourself in the moment, lady, I'm all for it. You could just write about the moments, if you want. :) Sometimes that's all that sticks with me too.

    1. I suppose writing about the moments might be a good place to start, the problem is it probably wouldn't make much sense to anyone reading, lol. Even with lots of practice I don't think I could write with the detail you do :) Oh well ;]

Sounds like a lovely evening and as long as you have those moments as memories with the hope of making more thats all that matters no matter the time line.

    1. I'm great at navigating when I have written directions to follow. Without them, I could get lost in a barrel, lol.

I definitely have the memories :D That too is part of the problem with writing about it, I get so lost in the sensations that the memories bring. I could literally sit for hours and just think about our adventures, lol.

  7. What a wonderful analogy, so beautiful. I love that. And here I thought this post was going to be about you going out for dippindots or something! Keeping with the theme...do you have a favorite flavor?

    1. LOL!!!! Guess what, I have seen them tons of times, but have never actually tried them. Maybe I will have to make a point of looking for them this summer :)

  8. Mrs. AP and I both always load the address / directions of where we're going into Google Maps on our phones if we don't know the way. That way I can track us on the GPS AND she can give me verbal cues of how far, what to look for, what direction we'll be turning, etc. I don't know how we'd get anywhere without our smartphones, really.

I love that he brought you the firefly. I also love that he let you enjoy that moment before he reminded you of other things. Sounds like a great day to me.

    Stay SINful

    1. That's the problem, we don't have cell phones. LOL. We would probably have been okay if I had written the directions down to refer too. I'm actually a very good navigator.

The firefly was the perfect way to end the day. We love our day trips and usually have a great time no matter where we end up.

  10. I like the dippindots analogy - every dot a moment of clarity that can be turned in your hand and examined. Lovely...fireflies are magick, you know...they are fae, too :)

    1. That analogy has been floating around in my mind for awhile now, I'm glad you liked it.

I have decided that the firefly had so much fun watching us that afterwards, he flew off to spread the tale to his friends. Maybe they will get curious and come to watch and leave us some of their magick again :D

  11. faerie, this post turned out to be downright romantic! What a lovely evening!

I think I heard somewhere that the dippindots company has gone belly-up, though. I still see their stands setup here and there, but I haven't seen one actually open for quite awhile...

    1. Heeheehee, and you thought it was just gonna be about ice cream and bugs, din't ya? LOL. He says sometimes I portray him as perfect, I tell him that's because he is, to me!!!! I'll take a firefly rescued from the pool over flowers anyday :)

I looked at the website for Dippindots, apparently they are making quite a financial recovery. You can order them to be shipped now.

  12. we haven't had those in my country for years. I did so love them tho.

And i haven't seen a firefly since i was a child. it's hard to find them when you live in the city.

    your post was beautiful.

it's really lovely to read such a romantic story :) especially when it hits me that it's not from a book, but someone's real life!

    *hugs*

    XOXO

We live in the city too, so I understand what you are saying :)

He is not a traditionally romantic fella, but ooohhh does his type of romance work for me, lol.

  13. Sounds like you had a good day. And even if you missed your turn, it sounded like you were having a nice conversation.

And how sweet of him to find out a firefly and how nice that you fell asleep two nights in a row with a sting on your backside. Sounds like Musicman is figuring out what you want and need. What a perfect way to send you to bed. Let's hope this is just the beginning of a new way to end the evening.

    1. We always have a great time on our day trips, and I may have been just a teeny tiny bit distracted with our activities before leaving on the trip, lol.

It was a really great weekend, I think a turning point for us maybe too :)

  14. Sounds like you had a great day and evening. In the south we call those little critters "Lightening Bugs". We used to catch them as children. Now as it gets dark I stay inside, because of those dang "skeeters". LoL. God Bless You and Yours, Belle L.

    1. LOL, Belle, I was raised by a southern belle mom, I'm quite familiar with those terms :)

I like to sit by our pool at night and watch the bats dive bomb the skeeters. The more they get the less there are to get me, lol.
